HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AMENDMENTS TO H.B. 2088

Strike everything after the enacting clause and insert:
"Section 1. Joint legislative study committee on extended learning opportunities; membership; duties; report; delayed repeal
A. The joint legislative study committee on extended learning opportunities is established consisting of the following members:
1. The chairperson of the house of representatives education committee.
2. Two additional members of the house of representatives, each of whom is a member of a different political party, who are appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
3. The chairperson of the senate education committee.
4. Two additional members of the senate, each of whom is a member of a different political party, who are appointed by the president of the senate.
5. The governor or the governor’s designee.
6. A member of a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, who is appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives.
7. A member of the business community, who is appointed by the president of the senate.
B. The chairperson of the education committee of the house of representatives, or their designee, shall serve as the chairperson of the study committee.
C. The committee shall:
1. Study the fiscal impact and feasibility of extended learning opportunities and the use of time for learning.
2. Submit a report of the committee’s findings and recommendations on or before December 31, 2014 to the governor, the president of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives and provide a copy of this report to the secretary of state.
D. This section is repealed from and after December 31, 2014."
